Ashchurch Rural Parish Council is working with the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT), Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) and neighbouring parishes to explore Natural Flood Management as a way to help reduce the risk of future flooding in our area.
To make informed decisions, we need to build a clear picture of where and how flooding has affected our parish in the past — and that’s where your local knowledge is vital.
We’re asking residents to share evidence of any previous flood events, whether recent or historic, to help us understand patterns and identify areas most at risk.
If you have information about flooding in the Parish, please send us:
- Photographs of the flooding
- Date of the event
- Exact location (as accurately as possible)
- Short description, including (if known)
– Whether the flooding was from the Carrant Brook, Tirle Brook, or surface water
– The weather conditions at the time
– How it affected residents, travel, farming, or wildlife
Your evidence will help us build a clearer picture of how and where flooding occurs in Ashchurch, improve our responses to planning applications, support future Natural Flood Management projects, and strengthen our community’s resilience to future flood events. Every piece of information — even the smallest details — makes a valuable difference.
Please send in your information to admin@ashchurchrural-pc.gov.uk
Thank you
